BBX MySpace Exodus
It’s gotten us gigs. It’s gotten us fans. It used to be fun. But yesterday an end finally came to the Blue Bone Express MySpace page. It had been becoming more and more tedious to include our show and band updates on what used to be the largest music site on the internet, and it was clear that no one there amongst our 1,086 fans was listening. So good bye Tom and the rest of you (they laid off 500 workers, half their global workforce, earlier this month). These days we’re mostly on Facebook, where each member of the band maintains an active account.
We didn’t delete the MySpace page without warning. We have a ping.fm account setup to notify Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace (not any more) all at once. So here is the transcript for your pleasure:
- 1/15/11 BLUE BONE EXPRESS: Dear My____ (space?) Fans: BBX is pinging U 2 C if anyone is there beyond the usual spammers n such. Deleting MySpace page within the week.
- 1/16/11 BLUE BONE EXPRESS: Dear MySpace Friends: We pinged U yesterday & heard nothing back from any of U. Will anyone tell us why we shouldn’t delete this account?
- 1/17/11 BLUE BONE EXPRESS: Deleting the MySpace page. To our 1,086 mostly vacant “friends”: THANKS FOR THE ADD! “Like” us at http://facebook.com/blueboneexpress/
- 1/19/11 BLUE BONE EXPRESS: Last chance. About to delete this BBX MySpace profile. Find us at Facebook dot com slash blueboneexpress.
So MySpacers: don’t say we didn’t warn you!
